Starch Works

I have it on good authority that starches make you fat. BigPharma agrees. I do not. Let's see who is right.

Today was the last day of planned bean breakfasts. I’ll still stock up on some because it’s just too convenient not to, but I’m going to try having cereal for breakfast. At the weekends I usually do that, assuming of course that I wake up in time to actually eat breakfast, which sadly is not always the case (more on that in a minute). Still it’s tasty but not overly filling. I’ve found that I just haven’t been eating enough of it, and as it’s either puffed millet or puffed brown rice, it’s not really that processed. There’s nothing added to it and given that I can use the same amount of soy milk, I’m comfortable increasing my intake. Plus it’s tasty.

The only downside is I need to eat it at home because I don’t think I’ll be able to safely store the soy milk at work, as someone is going to drink it. If I label it, then it won’t be a problem, but accidents do happen and I don’t want to be stuck without breakfast if I’m feeling hungry. Usually by then it’s too late to pop out to get some beans (another good reason to keep it under the desk). Anyway, if I eat at home, I have my own supply of soy milk that’s perfectly safe and I can tuck in to my hearts content.

With regards to sleep, I’m finding my sleeping cycle to be a bit off and I’m not sure why. Sometimes when I get to bed I’m wide awake and have trouble sleeping, but when I finally get up, I’m still feeling really tired. I’m not sure if I’ve picked up a bug or something, or whether or not my body isn’t getting something in the diet that it used to get and relied on. I really don’t know at this stage, but I’m thinking of starting a logbook or something to try and track down the cause.

In general, although I feel healthier and my body feels better in general, I’ve not noticed any amazing changes as such. Lots of little and important changes to be sure, but no miracles. That’s okay, apart from being obese, I wasn’t really in bad health per-se i.e. I wasn’t pre-diabetic, I didn’t have high blood pressure or heart disease etc. So it’s not that surprising to me that I am seeing smaller benefits over a longer period of time. No issue there. I guess I just have to wait and see :)

Lunch and dinner were as per usual :)
