Starch Works

I have it on good authority that starches make you fat. BigPharma agrees. I do not. Let's see who is right.

Day 5, although I still haven’t really fully started as I’ve still being having the occassional alcohol. However food wise, I’m pretty close. I can actually feel my body adapting again already. I’m usually super hungry all day and if I snack, I really snack. Not great really. Today though, the useful time for the munchies came and went and only now (just got 6pm) do I actually feel some hunger. So my body is starting to adapt to is starchy lifestyle. It sounds weird to say it, but I feel the changes like an old friend. I get a similar sensation when I fast. I recognise the sensations for what they are.

I’ve also been baking my own bread. I picked up a really nice machine from Panasonic (SDPM106) but so far I’ve not been too successful. The bread I’m get is very tasting and it’s getting eaten but it’s not rising as expected. I’m obviously still missing something. I’m going to try some basic bread flour tonight and see what that gets me. So far I’ve been trying to use simple brown flour - maybe it’s just too heavy?

I’ve also been swimming more with my son. I’m teaching him to swim and he’s picking it up well - he really enjoys being in the water and fortunately we have a really nice pool close by. We’ve been going every Saturday and Sunday. As a bonus it gives my wife a break from the pair of us which I think she enjoys. The only thing to watch out for is the sun. It’s warm when swimming outside, but we’re still in a sub-tropical environment and that sun is pretty powerful. We avoided most of the damage by using sun screen on the sensitive areas, but we missed out two places - our arms and the top of our heads. My skull is now bright red and hot - needless to say I won’t be making that mistake twice and we picked up some swimming caps to try and help prevent that.

It’s good being back on the starch solution. I enjoy the foods and it just feels better. I’m down nearly 2 kilos so far but I expect this to fluctuate a bit until I settle down and switch more completely to drinking water.

In the mean time though, this is something I can do :)
